Our Story | March 2019
Unperturbed by snow we explored the five halls, our focus firmly on contemporary and high-end interiors products, adequately catered for in Halls 1 and 2.
Below are some of our own highlights from the show we took in on Monday 21st January 2013, the people and the products we saw and liked.
New scandavian-style Stil Furniture which was an exciting find in Contemporary Hall 2 and really encouraging to see great British design taking brave steps in form and function. Ian Cull's new collaboration brings a brilliant fusion with minimal sleek 'scaled' styling and manufacturing. We have no doubt that ian and colleagues will have lots of leads to follow up on return from the trip down under!
First timers, Couch Design, at the show fresh from Clifton, Bristol we were delighted to meet Judith and Ian Archer. Their fantastic products that are built to last locally made us proud to be fellow Bristolians. A clear passion for the creative business and shared interest in Bristol's creative quarter Paintworks left us hoping that it wont be too long before neighbours are asking 'how much is that sofa in the window'.
Fellow visitor Declan, and one half of Twin Design, took time out of his seminar programme to grab a coffee. Working around the world, they take their bespoke design solutions from night clubs to golf courses. We were pleased to chew over the relative merits of industry shows and how Zeke Creative can help make space work harder in 'Creating Desire'. We look forward to the launch on Neeson.
Having been following Justyna's progress over the past three months since she has flowen the UBM nest and struck out on her own Justyna Sowa Social Media focussed on growing businesses from the design, lifestyle and interiors sectors. Delighted to see the synergy and cross-over with our own business, we look forward to collaborating in 2013 after your Szarlotka trip!
Barney and Julian, from Weaver Green, in a lovely part of Devon, were happy to talk through some exciting plans for growth in 2013—it was interesting to discover that we have a few mutual contacts in the Exeter area (whether that's manufacturing on the Sowton estate or in terms of juicy flavourings from the other side of town). We love their sub brands, Fibre specialising in natural floor coverings, and Unnaturalfloorings and look forward to seeing their display at Decorex 2013 in Notting Hill.
This was our end of day Cotswold connection. Simon Hudson of Oxley's reminded us that garden furniture can still be "made" in this country, even if many of the components are well traveled first! And we exchanged notes on the Cotswold House Hotel; home to one of our first Ammique beds. Chipping Campden is clearly where it all happens!
