This weekend at NEC Birmingham thousands of Kevin McCloud fans were treated to a feast of self-build and home makeover ideas under one big roof – together with some very big danish pastries (as Stephen discovered much to his delight).
This company were a really exciting find in the 'Grand Garden' zone as they were showcasing their fabulous Bahama Fire (which looked stunning despite having a curb on live flames). Their unique fire table has been designed with outdoor living in mind. It is crafted in the UK and manufactured to a high specification to create a luxurious piece of furniture.
We talked magic tricks and marvelled at their shiny things on display – Zigzag were showcasing not just stunning and incredibly fresh interpretations on the old faithful staircase balustrade but also tractor seats for the affluent derriere. Zeke found a kindred spirit here in a love of Zeds but also a luxury designer-maker for whom the only way is up (please no more puns).
Laurence has a definite penchant for snake skin and all things more exotic when it comes to his textures and finishes. We had a opportunity to speak to the man himself and found out there could great things ahead for this growing business. He is proud to produce some of the finest English kitchens and furniture with a fantastic team of craftsmen behind him. B&Q spotlights work wonders but we know Highgrove are destined for a brighter future!
Brendan and Paul entertained us for a while with their Irish charm and even more beguiling cabinet work – wow what amazing contours guys. Their unique edge is that they can make any style, shape, size, profile and wood type of curved door to match any existing flat door range. The results of technology specially developed by Paul were on display along side their launch of 'Emerald Island' units.
Steel Cuisine specialise in bespoke premium quality range cookers, manufactured in Italy. Zeke discovered that Steel have the funky coloured style of Genesi or the more traditional Ascot which we can easily see at home in a wide variety of kitchen settings, for the more discerning chef. Mark the owner of the brand in the UK also shared a few interesting stories with us, revealing where our paths have almost crossed in the past.
Since 2002 the company have forged an unrivalled international reputation as the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of copper baths and basins. We now make a habit of bumping into them at all the best shows – honest guys we aren't stalking you but just can't get enough of these serious tubs.
